Embracia Education Educators Teacher Profile – Lilian

Lillian - Registered Training Organisation & Education Manager, Embracia Education
Meet our amazing tutor Lilian, who teaches both the Certificate III in Individual Support and Certificate IV in Ageing Support at Embracia Education. Lilian has been a Registered Nurse for over 40 years and worked in acute, hospital and aged care settings – in clinical and management roles.

Lilian started work at Embracia Aged Care in 2008 as Manager then Regional Manager and finally Liaison Manager. Due to her passion for learning and specialist background in aged care, Lilian took on an exciting new role as the Registered Training Organisation & Education Manager for Embracia Education in 2020.

This role would see Lilian provide one-on-one teaching to students and extra support during their mandatory placement. Lilian has taught both international and domestic students since then and believes Embracia is truly unique as a training organisation.

It is not a one size fits all …we truly care about each student’s future and their career. I love being able to deliver person-centred training. Lessons with me are customised and scheduled to suit each student’s requirements. Some have work and children outside of study. A lot of students start work at Embracia while they study with me on other days.

Lilian explained that students can often secure work in the homes while they study and that there’s a high chance they will be employed when they graduate. They also have the option to study part-time and full time and complete learning modules online.

One of the best things Embracia Education can offer international students is the option to start their coursework overseas while they wait for a visa. This is very popular, and a lot of students begin to study in their home country while they wait to move.

I’m with the students the whole way through the course – online and in person. I really want them to be holding their certificate at the end of the course because that’s their future. Class sizes are either small or one-on-one with me. Students get a lot more attention and learning opportunities than a traditional classroom. It’s really industry specific training that’s happening in the home, and they come to me with any questions during their placement.

Embracia Education is in a unique position because students have a lot of flexibility throughout their course, with access to tailored learning plans, small classes, and industry connections. We asked Lilian what the best part about teaching at Embracia is,

The best part is seeing my students grow and become confident in looking after our residents; knowing the students can expand their knowledge and skills as they progress to the next step in their career in aged care like I have; and they have opportunities and all their hard work can pay off.

We would like to thank Lilian for taking the time to sit down and share her passion for teaching and what students can expect.
